Company 2 Responds To Second Working House Fire in 24 Hours

On December 5, 2019, around 1:30 a.m. Company 2 responded to its second working house fire in 24 hours. A fire broke out in a home in the 9100 block of Easy Street in Owings, Maryland and crews responded.

First arriving units from North Beach found a home fully involved with smoke and flames. When the crew from Engine 21 arrived and immediately pulled back up hose line from North Beach’s engine and assisted with water supply. This move subsequently provided water to the entire fire ground.

PFVFD’s Safety Officer Michael Sharpe said, “Primary water supply on this fire ground failed, reinforcing why 2nd water supply is important. Note the engine is parked in a driveway, maintaining access/egress on the main road. Note the hydrant is maximized and eventually fed the whole fire ground.”

46 fire and rescue personnel operated on the scene overnight and one civilian was injured and transported to an area hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
