First due building

12-29-06 At 0931 hours, Engines 2, 6, 83, 7, Tower 2, Truck 3 and Squad 6 were alerted to Hazmat Box 2-16 for an unknown odor. Engine 21(FF Bowen), Tower 2(FF Billings) and FC Scott responded to the 700 block of Solomons Island Road North. Company 2 units arrived on side Alpha of a one story strip mall with nothing showing. Chief 2 established command as the Engine crew investigated the store and the Tower crew investigated the roof. The Tower crew found a small fire in a heating unit on the roof. Company 2 units cleared in just under an hour.

Huntingtown house

12-21-06 At 0440 hours, Engines 6, 2, 5, Tower 2 and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 6-01 for a house. Engine 21(DFC Howes), Tower 2 and Tanker 2 responded to the 2000 block of Lowery Oaks Lane. Units arrived to find a house fully involved on the ground. Engine 21 advanced an attack line to assist Company 6 with protecting exposures and extinguishing the fire. Solomons Island and Old Town

12-19-06 At 0610 hours, Rescue Company 6, 2, Ambulance 6 and 4 were alerted to Rescue Box 6-06 for a personal injury accident with one ejected. Squad 2(FF Ficke) responded to Solomons Island Road and Old Town Road. Squad 2 was diverted to Company 6 to establish the Landing Zone. One patient was flown to Prince George's Trauma Center and one patient signed a refusal. Squad 2 cleared in 30 minutes.

First due townhouse

12-16-06 At 0303 hours, Engine Company 2 was alerted to Local Box 2-11 for an outside "chair fire". Brush 2(FF Braswell) and DFC Howes responded to the 500 block of Stamper Court. Units arrived to find a fire in the rear of a two story middle of the row home with extension. The Brush crew held the fire in check as Engine 21(FF Bowen) and Tower 2(FC Scott) responded. The Engine crew finished knocking the fire while the Tower crew opened up. MVA on the Benedict Bridge

12-11-06 At 1134 hours, Rescue Company 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 2-05 for a personal injury accident. Squad 2(FF Reamy), Engine 22(FF McConnell) and FC Scott responded to the Benedict Bridge. Company 2 units arrived to find two vehicles involved and one trapped. The Squad crew quickly popped the door as Chief 2 established command. The patient was turned  over to awaiting EMS and flown to PG's Trauma Center for further evaluation. Two other patients were taken to local hospitals for a check up. Company 2 units cleared in 40 minutes.

PF Christmas Party

12-9-06 On Saturday, the Prince Frederick Volunteers got together for the annual Christmas Party. Members and their families arrived around 1900 hours to enjoy food and fun. Later in the evening, Santa visited the firehouse to see all the kids and get their Christmas lists. Thanks to "The Flames" for their hard work.

Elevator Rescue in PF

12-6-06 At 1347 hours, Rescue Company 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 2-16 for a stalled elevator. Squad 2(Sgt Sewell) responded to the 400 block of Solomons Island Rd N at Calvert Middle School. Squad 2 arrived on the scene to find an elevator between floors with two subjects trapped inside. The power was shut off as the Squad crew removed the two subjects from the elevator. The scene was turned over to maintenance. Squad 2 cleared in 20 minutes.

PF Soldier

12-5-06 On Tuesday, Prince Frederick Volunteer Firefighter Steve Yarosh went back to Iraq to finish his tour of duty. FF Yarosh was home for two weeks on leave after being in Iraq for seven months. Yarosh visited the firehouse often in those two weeks, attending the November drill, the Southern Maryland dinner and just hanging out. While Steve was home, he presented a plaque to the department. The plaque contained a flag that he flew for Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department on September 11th in Iraq. Steve will be done his tour of duty in April.

Christmas Parade

12-3-06 On Sunday, the Prince Frederick Volunteers loaded up on Command 2, Jeep 2, Brush 2, BX 2, Engine 21, Engine 22, Tower 2, Squad 2 and Tanker 2 and headed to the Fox Run Shopping Center for the annual Christmas Parade. Thanks to all of the members that helped clean apparatus. Special thanks to the members that stayed back to sell Christmas Trees.

First due townhouse

12-1-06 At 1856 hours, Engines 2, 6, 83, Truck 42 and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 2-11 for a townhouse. Engine 21(Lt Helms), Engine 22(Capt Wells), Tower 2(Capt Delehanty) cleared a run in Chesapeake Beach, Squad 2(Sgt Sewell) and DFC Howes responded to the 200 block of Stamper Court. Engine 21 arrived on side Alpha of a two story end of the row with smoke showing and their own hydrant. The Engine crew advanced an attack line in and found a living room off as Chief 2B established Command. The Squad arrived, opened up and performed a primary search. Engine 22 arrived, laid out from another plug and took their line to side Charlie. Command held Company 2 units as the fire was quickly knocked. SMVFA dinner

High-angle rescue in H-town

11-25-06 At 1159 hours, Tower 2 was requested to assist Company 6 on Box 6-05 for the high-angle rescue. Tower 2(Lt Deale) responded to the 2700 block of Hidden Hill Court where Company 6 had an injured construction worker on the roof of a two story building. Tower 2 arrived and assisted two rescuers already on the roof. The bucket was put into place, the patient was strapped down and moved to the ground. German Chapel and Dan Bowen

11-22-06 At 1821 hours, Rescue Company 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 2-07 for the personal injury accident. Squad 2(Capt Wells),  Engine 22(DFC Howes) and AFC D'Agostino responded to German Chapel Road and Dan Bowen Road. Company 2 arrived and found one vehicle into a tree as Chief 2A established Command. The Squad crew quickly secured the vehicle finding only one patient while the Engine crew pulled a line. TV room rehab

11-21-06 The Prince Frederick Volunteers got together last week and started rehabbing the downstairs TV room. The room was repainted, re-stained and re-floored. 11-16-06 At 1756 hours, Engines 2, 6, 83, 7, Tower 2, Truck 3 and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 2-11 for a building. Engine 21(Lt Deale), Tower 2(DFC Howes), Engine 22 and AFC D'agostino responded to the 300 block of Main Street. Engine 21 arrived on side Alpha of a two story commercial building with a small fire on the front porch. Chief 2B established command as Tower 2 arrived and secured the power. Engine 22 arrived as Command held Company 2 units. Company 2 cleared in 30 minutes. Approximately two hours later, units were alerted to Box 2-10 for a house. LODD in Riegelwood, NC

11-16-06 At 0630 hours, a tornado hit a mobile home park in southeastern North Carolina this morning, killing at least seven people. Among those killed were firefighter Mike Browne of the Acme-Delco-Riegelwood Volunteer Fire Department. Firefighter Browne is the cousin of Prince Frederick Volunteer Firefighter Roy Milstead. Browne died while trying to take his daughter to safety. Browne's 4 year old daughter Cheyenne is the only one to survive the tornado. Cheyenne was listed in critical condition Friday at N.C. Children's Hospital in Chapel Hill. Firefighter Browne made the ultimate sacrifice as any firemen would to save another. North Carolina crews found firefighter Mike Browne as they searched for tornado survivors.

First due house

11-9-06 At 2325 hours, Engines 2, 7, 83, Tower 2, and Squad 7 were alerted to Box 2-08 for a house. Engine 21(Lt Dalrymple), Engine 22(FF Breen), Tower 2(Capt Delehanty) and FC Ficke responded to the 1000 block of Hillandale Way. Engine 21 arrived on side Alpha of a two story single family with nothing showing. Chief 2 established command as firefighters were greeted with light smoke conditions. The Engine crew found a small fire in a malfunctioning fan located in the bathroom. The Tower crew arrived, controlled the power and opened up. Command held Company 2 units for mop-up. Structural Collapse in PF

11-8-06 At 1344 hours, Rescue Company 2 was alerted to assist Ambulance 4 and the Medic Unit on the scene of an injured person. Squad 2(FC Ficke) responded to the 4000 block of Hallowing Point Road. Squad 2 arrived to find a trailer that had collapsed off of it's foundation and trapped a man underneath. With this information, Engine 22(FF Wells) responded. The Squad and Engine crew cut away part of the trailer and used the airbags to lift the trailer off of the trapped subject. Crews packaged the patient and turned him over to awaiting EMS. Sixes and Grays

11-6-06 At 1738 hours, Rescue Company 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 2-03 for a personal injury accident. Squad 2(Lt Dalrymple), Engine 22(FC Ficke), and AFC D'agostino responded to Sixes Road and Grays Road. Company 2 units arrived to find a two car accident. Chief 2A established command while the Squad crew secured the vehicles. The Engine arrived and assisted the Squad crew with packaging the patients and removing hazards from the roadway. Custom Chopper drawing

11-1-06 At 2000 hours, the Prince Frederick Volunteers and the public got together to draw the winning ticket for our Custom Chopper Raffle. Jimmy Purdy of Lucky Cycles was on hand to draw the winning ticket. We are proud to announce the winner of the raffle is John Ford of Huntingtown, Md. John will be starting the plans to build his new Custom Chopper on Friday. Fatal Huntingtown house

10-31-06 At 2248 hours, Engines 15, 6, 2, 1, Tower 2, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 6-23 for a house with people trapped. Engine 21(Lt Dalrymple), Tower 2(DFC Howes), Tanker 2(FF Hance), AFC D'agostino responded to the 2100 block of Stinnett Road. Engine 151 arrived on the side Alpha of a one story single family with heavy fire showing, bringing Squad 2(FC Ficke) on the working fire dispatch. Engine 21 arrived and pulled a third line to the house and assisted with controlling the fire. Tower 2 arrived and opened up. Squad 2 arrived and provided lights. Two subjects were rescued from the house. Both patients were transported to CMH, priority 1 while a third subject was flown to the local burn center. One patient succumbed to their injuries at CMH. Company 2 units operated for just under 4 hours.

Construction accident in PF

10-27-06 At 1240 hours, Engine Company 2 was alerted to Local Box 2-16 for a Landing Zone. Engine 22(Lt Deale) responded to the 800 block of Costley Way where Ambulance 4 was on the scene of a construction accident. The patient who had fallen from a ladder was packaged and transported to the LZ which Engine 22 had established on Theater Drive. The patient was flown to Prince George's Trauma Center in Trooper 2 for further evaluation. Engine 22 cleared in 40 minutes.  Photo  Photo  Photo

Solomons Island and Plum Point

10-24-06 At 0815 hours, Rescue Company 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 6-02 for a personal injury accident. Squad 2(F/F Reamy) responded to Solomons Island Road and Plum Point Road. Squad 2 arrived on the scene and assisted Company 6 with an overturned dump truck vs. a car. Three patients were packaged for transport. 10-19-06 At 0916 hours, Engine Company 2 was alerted to Local Box 2-17 for the investigation. As Engine 22(Lt Deale), AFC D'agostino and DFC Scott responded to the 1400 block of Wilson Road, Communications advised they were filling the box for the house. This brought Tower 2(Capt Wells) and surrounding units. Chief 2C arrived on the scene with smoke showing from a two story, single family, bringing the working fire dispatch. Chief 2A arrived and established Command as Engine 22 arrived and laid out from the driveway. The Engine crew advanced an attack line to the second floor where they were met with heavy fire. The Tower crew opened up exposing the extension to the attic. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes. Owings building

10-16-06 As Engine 21 and the Command Unit were returning from Baltimore at 1857 hours, Box 5-02 was struck for the building fire. Engine 21(Lt Deale), Tower 2(Lt Dalrymple), and AFC D'agostino responded to the 600 block of Keith Lane in Owings. Engine 21 arrived on side Alpha of a two story commercial building with smoke showing. The Engine crew advanced an attack line into the front door and encountered fire conditions in Quadrant A of the building. The Tower arrived and starting opening up and lighting the inside up. Crews found extension to the second floor and attic as the Working Fire Dispatch brought Engine 22 and Tanker 2. The Engine crews brought the fire under control in 20 minutes. Last call

10-16-06 In the early morning hours, the Prince Frederick Volunteers went to Ritchie and Laurel Volunteer Fire Departments to meet up with Prince George's County and DC units and make the trip to Baltimore to lay a brother to rest. Services for Firefighter Roberts of the Baltimore City Fire Department were held at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore City with the procession going to the Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium for the burial. Hundreds of firefighters from all over attended the funeral to pay their respects for our fallen brother. Allan Roberts, may you rest in peace.                Photo  Photo  Photo  Photo

Hallowing Point and Thunder Hill

10-13-06 At 1613 hours, Rescue Company 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 2-06 for a serious personal injury accident with entrapment. Squad 2(AFC D'agostino) responded to Hallowing Point Road and Thunder Hill Drive and arrived to find two cars and a bus involved. The Squad crew quickly stabilized the cars and found that bystanders had popped the passenger door. Two patients were packaged up and turned over to EMS while two other patients signed refusals. The two patients were transported to the LZ handled by Engine 22(Sgt Boswell). Company 2 units cleared in an hour. Construction accident in PF

10-13-06 At 0945 hours, Rescue Company 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 2-11 for a construction accident. Squad 2(DFC Scott) and AFC D'agostino responded to the 100 block of Sherry Lane. Squad 2 arrived to find two workers that had fallen off of a hotel. Chief 2A arrived and established command as the Squad crew packaged the patients. Both patients were transported to the LZ next to the scene and airlifted to PG's Trauma Center. Company 2 units cleared in 40 minutes and turned the scene over to MSP. 

Stoakley and Theatre

10-11-06 At 2049 hours, Rescue Company 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 2-15 for a personal injury accident. Squad 2(Lt Dalrymple) and FC Ficke responded to Stoakley Road and Theatre Drive. Squad 2 arrived to find a vehicle that had overturned several times into a field. The Squad crew investigated and found one patient already out of the vehicle. The patient was turned over to EMS and transported to CMH for a checkup. Squad 2 cleared in 20 minutes.            Photo  Photo  Photo

Car fire in PF

10-11-06 At 1643 hours, Engine Company 2 was alerted to Local Box 2-11 for a vehicle fire. Engine 22(Lt Deale) and AFC D'agostino responded to the 200 block of Solomons Island Rd South. Units arrived to find the same with a fire in the engine compartment. The Engine crew stabilized the vehicle, opened the hood and put a quick knock on the fire. BCFD LODD

10-10-06 The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department sends our deepest condolences to the Baltimore City Fire Department and the family and friends of Firefighter Allen Roberts. Roberts was killed early Tuesday battling a two-alarm fire in the Greektown section of the city when the second story floor collapse on top of him and two other firefighters. A RIC team was quickly deployed and pulled the three firefighters from the house within minutes. The 40 year old, 19-year veteran of BCFD is survived by a wife and four children. Roberts was the first city firefighter killed in the line of duty since 1995.

Sixes and Harvest Grove

10-7-06 At 2353 hours, Rescue Company 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 2-02 for the personal injury accident. Squad 2(Lt Dalrymple) and FC Ficke responded to Sixes Road and Harvest Grove Lane. Company 2 units arrived to find a vehicle overturned on an embankment. The Squad crew quickly stabilized the vehicle only to find no one inside. Bystanders had pulled the patient from the vehicle prior to FD arrival. One patient was transported to CMH for a checkup. Company 2 units cleared in one hour after assisted PD with lights.  Photo  Photo

10-5-06 At 1815 hours, Engines 2, 6, 7, 83, Tower 2, Truck 3, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 2-11 for a building. Engine 21, Tower 2, FC Ficke, and AFC D'agostino responded to the 200 block of Shore Acres Way and arrived on side Delta of a three story apartment building with nothing showing. Chief 2 established command as the Engine crew advanced the 400' attack line to an apartment on the first floor and found a fire walking up the outside wall. Congratulations Mr Horsmon

10-3-06 On Tuesday, one of the Prince Frederick Volunteers, Vernon D. Horsmon Sr., were recognized along with Wayne Gordy and Herby Dowell of Co.1, and Raymond Lankford of Co.3 for their dedicated service of 50 years or more to the safety and welfare of Calvert County’s citizens. Mr. Horsmon has been a member for over 62 years as he joined Prince Frederick in June of 1943, and was the Fire Chief for 29 of those years. Mr. Horsmon is still active today in the administration of the department and is just as dedicated as he was 62 years ago. The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department would like to congratulate the four volunteers for their impact on Calvert County Fire/Rescue.  Photo  Photo  Photo  Photo

PF receives award

10-3-06 The Prince Frederick Volunteers have been awarded a Life Safety Achievement Award for the third year in a row by the Residential Fire Safety Institute. The award recognizes local fire prevention activities that contribute to reducing the number of lives lost in a residential fire and recognizes the fire department because it recorded zero fire deaths in structures fires. There are only 768 other fire departments in the U.S., Canada, Italy, Japan and Greece that received this award for 2005. Thanks to the men and women of the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department for continuing to go above and beyond the call of duty everyday.

Solomons Island and Traskers

9-29-06 At 1750 hours, Rescue Company 2, EMS 4 and 6 were alerted to Rescue Box 2-16. Squad 2(Lt Dalrymple), Engine 22(F/F Sharpe), DFC Scott, and FC Ficke responded to Solomons Island Road and Traskers Blvd. Chief 2 established command as Company 2 units arrived on the scene to find a three car accident with seven patients. The Squad crew stabilized the vehicles while the Engine crew assisted with patient care. Three subjects were transported to CMH for a checkup and four signed refusals. Calvert County Fair

9-27-06 Wednesday was the opening day for the annual Calvert County Fair. The Prince Frederick Volunteers once again attended with the Safety House to promote fire safety for the kids. Company 2 also had a table set up selling our Chopper Raffle tickets in which Washington Redskins Dexter Manley stopped by to purchase one. The fair continued through the week until Sunday, October 1st. A member and a member's son participated in the tractor pulling competition, which was one of many activities for everyone's entertainment. Last call

9-26-06 On Tuesday at 1230 hours, our sister from Company 4, Dawn Michelle Dellar answered her last call aboard Ambulance 49. Dawn was laid to rest at St. John Vianney Church in Prince Frederick after she passed through the fire department arches. The arches were set up with Tower 2 and Waldorf Truck 3 at Main Street and Church Street. We love you DM and you will truly be missed. May you rest in peace Dawn and even though your eyes are closed, we know "you are with us". The Prince Frederick Volunteers would like to thank everyone for their support, kind words and assisting with the funeral procession.

Solomons Island and Whispering

9-25-06 At 1520 hours, Rescue Companies 2 and 7, EMS 4, 7  and 10 were alerted to Rescue Box 2-04 for a personal injury accident with one ejected. Squad 2(F/F Della-Camera) and AFC D'agostino responded to Solomons Island Road and Whispering Drive and arrived to find a car vs. a bicyclist. Chief D'agostino arrived, established command and held Prince Frederick units and the Medic to evaluate the bicyclist. The Trooper was called to fly the subject to Prince George's Shock Trauma due to the injuries sustained, where he later succumbed to those injuries. Squad 2 handled the Landing Zone in a field next to the incident. While Squad 2 was operating on this incident, the Engine, Tower, and Tanker were alerted to Box 6-08 for a house. Chief 6 arrived and held Company 6 units only.

Hallowing Point and Tate

9-23-06 At 1205 hours, Rescue Company 2 was alerted to a Local Alarm to assist the police. Squad 2(Lt Deale) requested an Ambulance as Communications advised the nature of the run on the TAC channel. Squad 2 arrived at Hallowing Point Road and Tate Road to find a van up an embankment, partially overturned. With the new information from the Squad, DFC Howes responded to the scene and established Command. The Stabilization man used the Paratech struts to stabilize the van as the Spreader man extricated the patient from the van. Passing of a Sister

9-19-06 It is with great sadness that the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department announces the passing of Company 4 member, Dawn Michelle Dellar. Dawn unexpectedly passed away in her sleep early this morning. Dawn was a top-runner at Company 4 since joining in 2004. Dawn was well known by many and will truly be missed. Hallowing Point and Helena

9-18-06 At 1151 hours, Rescue Companies 2 and 6 were alerted to Rescue Box 2-10 for a personal injury accident. Squad 2(FC Ficke) and Engine 22(F/F Sharpe) responded to Hallowing Point Road and Helena Drive. Company 2 units arrived to find a two car accident with one trapped. Company 2 units stabilized the vehicles and began extrication. The patient was quickly extricated and turned over to awaiting EMS. Ball and Broomes Island

9-17-06 At 0053 hours, Rescue Company 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 7-03 for a personal injury accident. Squad 2(Lt Dalrymple) responded to the 1700 block of Ball Road as Company 7 units arrived to find a single vehicle with three patients ejected and one trapped. Squad 2 arrived and assisted Company 7 units. The trapped subject was extricated and turned over to awaiting EMS. Engine 22 established the Landing Zone as one patient was transported to the LZ(succumbed to their injuries at the hospital), two patients were transported to CMH, and one patient succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Passing of  HVFD founder

9-14-06 The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department sends our deepest condolences to the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department and the family and friends of Mr. Donald Turner. Mr. Turner was one of the founding members and helped organize the HVFD in the 1970's. Mr. Turner was also the first President of the organization. Please keep the members, family, and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Hallowing Point and Williams

9-12-06 At 1541 hours, Rescue Company 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 2-10 for a personal injury accident. Squad 2 and AFC D'agostino responded to Hallowing Point Road and Williams Road. Company 2 units arrived to find two vehicles involved and no entrapment. The Squad crew stabilized the vehicles and went to work controlling fluid spills. Ambulance 4 transported one patient to CMH for a checkup, while Ambulance 83 obtained a signed refusal. Company 2 units cleared in 30 minutes.  Photo

9-11-06 Five years ago, on September 11, 2001, 19 men affiliated with al-Qaeda, hijacked four commercial passenger airliners. Two of the planes crashed into the World Trader Center in New York. Both towers collapsed within two hours. The pilot of the third team crashed a plane into the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia. Passengers and members on the fourth plane attempted to retake control of their plane from the hijackers; that plane crashed into a field near the town of Shanksville in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Excluding the 19 hijackers, a confirmed 2,973 people died, 343 were FDNY firefighters, and another 24 remain missing as a result of these attacks. Please remember this day as people from all over mourn the loss of their fellow brothers and sisters.

Family Safety Day

9-9-06 On Saturday, the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department hosted "Family Safety Day" at the firehouse. All of Calvert County's public safety divisions had displays and demonstrations for the public to learn more about what we do. The event was held from 1000 hours to 1400 hours and was great success. The Prince Frederick Volunteers had several members on hand covering the station and demonstrating an extrication procedure. The responded to three runs during the event. Bus fire in PF

9-6-06 At 0608 hours, Engine Companies 2 and 83 were alerted to Local Box 2-05 for a car fire. Engine 22(DFC Howes) responded to Hallowing Point Road and Skipjack Road. While responding, Communications advised that it was a bus that was on fire. With the additional information, DFC Howes requested Tanker 2 to respond on the run. Engine 22 arrived to find the rear of a Keller Transportation bus off. The DFC quickly checked the bus and found no one on board as the lineman started knocking the fire. Dunkirk Volunteer injured

9-4-06 The Prince Frederick Volunteers would like to wish Firefighter Chris Olson, of the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department, a speed recovery. Chris was involved in a personal injury accident in Cecil County on Saturday, September 2nd. Chris was flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma and is in stable condition. Chris had surgery on Sunday morning and will need physical therapy for one of his legs. Chris also has a bruised liver and ribs, and will be in the hospital for an extended period of time recovering. 

Ernesto hits Calvert

9-1-06 At 1326 hours, Tower 2 was alerted to Box 2-13 for a tree on a house. Tower 2(FC Ficke) and Brush 2(Lt Deale) responded to the 4300 block of Ridgeway Terrace and arrived to find the same. Units cleared a tree from the roof and covered the hole with plastic. This was the first of many runs for the night due to Tropical Storm Ernesto. Company 2 responded to 13 other emergencies after this run, with the last run at 2356 hours. The various runs included: 10 local alarms, 1 hazmat box, 1 building fire, 1 auto accident and 1 transfer to Prince George's County. Barstow and Buena Vista

8-29-06 At 0009 hours, Engine 2 was alerted to Box 2-09 for a car fire. Engine 22(Lt Dalrymple) responded to Barstow Road and Buena Vista Road and arrived to find a car off the roadway, fully involved. The front bumper line was placed in service and lineman started to knock the fire only to find the fuel tank partially ruptured. The foam tank was utilized to knock the rest of the fire. Luckily, all subjects were out of the vehicle and not injured. Engine 22 cleared a short time later.

Plum Point and Cox

8-27-06 At 1248 hours, Squad 2 was alerted with Huntingtown and Chesapeake Beach to Rescue Box 6-22 for a personal injury accident. As units responded to Plum Point Road and Cox Road, Chief 4 arrived on the scene of a two car accident and found one trapped. Squad 2 arrived and assisted Squad 6 with extrication. After a lengthy extrication, the patient was removed and turned over to awaiting EMS. The patient was then transported to the LZ, handled by Engine 62, to be flown to Prince George's Trauma Center. Engine 51 housing

8-26-06 On Saturday, a few of the Prince Frederick Volunteers traveled North in Engine 21 to attend the housing of Engine 51. Festivities started at 1600 hours, and the housing at 1800 hours. There were many contests and prizes to go along with the entertainment throughout the night. Sunderland building

8-23-06 At 1927 hours, Engines 6, 5, 1, Tower 2, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 6-14 for a house. Tower 2(Lt Dalrymple), Tanker 2(F/F Milstead), and FC Ficke responded to the 6700 block of Solomons Island Road. Units arrived on the scene and found a one and half story building with smoke showing, bringing Engine 21(DFC Howes) on the working fire dispatch. Units found a storage room off in the rear as Tower 2 arrived and went to the roof to ventilate. After the fire was placed under control, the Tower performed salvage and overhaul. Dares Beach and Armory

8-19-06 At 0207 hours, Squad 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 2-11 for a pedestrian struck. Squad 2(Lt Dalrymple) responded to Dares Beach Road and Armory Road. Units arrived to find a subject laying in the roadway. The patient was deemed priority 4 due to injuries incompatible to life. Squad 2 remained on the scene for just over two hours assisting with lights as PD investigated the scene. 

Multiple accidents in PF

8-17-06 At 0751 hours, Squad 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 2-16 for a personal injury accident. Squad 2(FC Ficke) responded to Solomons Island Road and Steeple Chase Drive and found two vehicles. One patient was transported to CMH with minor injuries while the other patient signed a refusal. Just before Squad 2 cleared, another accident was heard down the street. The second Rescue Box alerted Engine 22(Lt Deale) to Solomons Island Road, just north of Radio Road. Units arrived to find a five car pile-up. Three patients were transported to CMH and three patients signed refusals. A third accident occurred at Solomons Island and Steeple Chase just as Company 2 units were clearing. Huntingtown house

8-17-06 At 0338 hours, Engines 6, 5, 1, Tower 2, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 6-09 for a house. Tower 2(Lt Dalrymple) and Tanker 2(Tech Reamy) responded to the 5900 block of Stephen Reid Road. Units arrived on side Alpha to find heavy fire showing from a two story house, bringing Engine 21 on the working fire dispatch. Tower 2 arrived and went to work lighting the house and opening up. The Tanker arrived and ran water shuttles. The working fire dispatch was placed in service and Engine 21 filled in at Company 6. Tower 2 remained on the scene with extensive overhaul as the Tanker was placed in service. Company 2 units cleared the scene and fill-in just after 0630 hours.  Photo

8-15-06 At 2313 hours, the Prince Frederick Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-11 for a personal injury accident. Squad 2(Lt Dalrymple), Engine 22(Sgt Boswell), and DFC Scott responded to Armory Road and Fairground Road. Chief 2C established command as Company 2 units arrived to find a single vehicle into a pole with one trapped. The Squad crew stabilized the vehicle and went to work removing the passenger door. The Engine crew pulled a hose line and assisted with extrication. The patient was removed and turned over to awaiting EMS. Engine 21(F/F Bowen), Engine 22(F/F Sharpe), and Tower 2(F/F Billings) responded to the 5500 block of Ketch Road. Engine 21 arrived on side Delta of a one story warehouse with smoke showing, bringing the working fire dispatch. Chief 6B arrived and established command as the Engine crew found heavy smoke in the building. A ventilation unit was found on fire and quickly knocked. The Tower crew arrived, opened up and found extension to the duct work. Engine 22 arrived and checked exposures. 8-4-06 At 1913 hours, Engines 2, 6, 1, Tower 2 and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 2-13 for a house. Engine 21(F/F Pirner), Engine 22(Chief 2A), Tower 2(Capt Wells), Safety 2, and Chief 2C responded to the 4000 block of Cassell Blvd. Chief 2C arrived on side Alpha of a one story single family with fire showing on side Charlie, bringing the working fire dispatch. Engine 21 arrived and pulled an attack line and quickly knocked the fire. Tower 2 arrived and went to work opening up, exposing the extension to the attic. Sixes and Harvest Grove

8-2-06 At 1905 hours, Company 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 2-02 for a personal injury accident. Squad 2(F/F Sharpe), Engine 22(DFC Howes), and Chief 2A responded to the 3500 block of Sixes Road. Chief 2A established command as Company 2 units arrived to find one vehicle into a tree with a subject trapped. The Squad and Engine crew went to work removing the driver's side doors, flapping the roof, and performing a dash roll. The patient was extricated in 15 minutes and turned over to awaiting EMS. National Night Out

8-1-06 On Tuesday night, the Prince Frederick Volunteers participated in the annual National Night Out event. PF was invited to Chapline Place to enjoy great food, refreshments, and to get to know the people of the community. Lusby tanker

7-31-06 At 0802 hours, Engines 3, 7, 2, and 29, Truck 3, Tower 2, and Squad 27 were alerted to Box 3-08 for a tanker fire. Engine 22(FC 6), Tower 2(FC Ficke), and Tanker 2(F/F Bowen) responded to the 9600 block of HG Trueman Road at Southern Middle School. Engine 7 arrived on side "Charlie" and found a tanker full of asphalt on fire.  Engine 22 arrived and assisted with extinguishing the fire, Tower 2 went to the roof to check for extension, and Tanker 2 stood by. Elevator rescue in PF

7-28-06 At 1541 hours, Company 2 was alerted for the stalled elevator with one trapped. Squad 2(Capt Delehanty) responded to the 200 block of Duke Street. Squad 2 arrived on the scene to find the same with the elevator stuck between the basement and first floor. The Squad crew shut the power off to the elevator and removed one subject. The subject was fine and did not require any medical attention. Squad 2 turned the scene over to maintenance and cleared in 20 minutes.  Photo

7-24-06 At 0716 hours, Engines 2, 83, 6, Tower 2 and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 2-10 for smoke. Engine 22(Lt Dalrymple), Tower 2(DFC Scott), and Chief 2 responded to the 900 block of Augustus Drive. Engine 22 arrived on side Alpha of a one story single family, with nothing showing. The Engine crew investigated as Chief 2 arrived and established command. Fire Safety

7-20-06 On Thursday, Engine 21(Lt Deale) went to "Camp Kids" to teach the kids about fire safety and the fire department. The Engine was put on display first and then the kids were hosed down in the field adjacent to the school. One instructor really got into the lecture when she decided to try on the fire gear. While Engine 21 was at "Camp Kids", "Camp Cops" were at the firehouse taking a tour and learning about fire safety as well. "Camp Kids" sent PF a nice thank you banner from everyone. Huntingtown building

  7-16-06 At 1521 hours, Engines 6, 5, 1, 2, Tower 2, Truck 42, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 6-13 for a building fire. Engine 21(Lt Dalrymple), Tower 2(DFC Scott), and Tanker 2 responded to the 6200 block of Solomons Island Road. Chief 6A arrived on the scene of a two story commercial building with smoke showing, establishing command and requested the working fire dispatch. Units arrived and found a small fire in the basement and quickly put a knock on it. Engine 21 arrived, pulled a backup line and checked for extension on the first and second floor. Tower 2 arrived, lit the basement up, and started opening up finding extension in the walls and ceiling. Hallowing Point and Seagull Beach

7-15-06 At 0711 hours, the Prince Frederick and Benedict Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-05 for a personal injury accident. Squad 2(Lt Dalrymple) and FC Ficke  responded to the 5800 block of Hallowing Point Road. Units arrived to find a single vehicle overturned in the roadway as Chief 2 established command. The subject had crawled out of the vehicle prior to FD arrival. The Squad and Engine 83's crews secured the vehicle and removed hazards from the roadway. Company 2 units cleared in 20 minutes.

PF receives donation

7-13-06 On Thursday, members made a trip to Batching Systems, Inc., located on Jibsail Drive in the Industrial Park, to pick up a new map box for Engine 22. The old map box that is currently on the Engine has been on there for 15 years and is made of wood. The new map box, donated by BSI is made of 16 gauge stainless steel and is much shorter to help the driver's view. New tool for E22

7-12-06 On Wednesday, the Prince Frederick Volunteers received a new rescue system for Engine 22. The new Hurst gold series system was delivered to the firehouse around lunch time. The State Highway Administration assisted us with the purchase of an updated and more compact Maverick combination tool and power unit to replace a 19 year old Holmatro system that is currently on Engine 22. The current system has a power unit, and small spreaders and cutters. The system is still in good working order and will be for sale soon. Eng21ine back

7-11-06 At 1125 hours, Engine 21 was placed back in service. Engine 21 had been out for a week at Johnson and Towers having a few minor repairs being done. Lt Deale and Jack Boswell traveled to the shop this morning to pick the Engine up. Upon returning to the station, a few members were ready to start cleaning and placing equipment back on the Engine. After cleaning the piece, all equipment was exercised to ensure proper function. Thanks to the members that helped get our unit back in service.  Photo

7-4-06 At 0802 hours, the St Leonard and Prince Frederick Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 7-09 for a personal injury accident with a vehicle overturned and on fire. Squad 2(Lt Dalrymple) and FC Ficke responded to Broomes Island Road and Howard Drive. FC Ficke arrived on the scene to find the same with subjects out of the vehicle, establishing command. Squad 2 arrived, quickly placed their line in-service, and put a knock on the fire. Units arrived on the scene with a two story garage with fire showing. Tower 2 arrived as the Engine Companies were putting a knock on a fire that involved the building and a few cars. 6-26-6 At 1311 hours, the Prince Frederick and Huntingtown Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-16 for a personal injury accident. Squad 2(FC Ficke) and Engine 22(Lt Deale) responded to Solomons Island Road and Steeple Chase Drive. Chief 2 established command as units arrived on the scene with a single vehicle into the median. After assessing patients, Ambulance 7 and the Medic was added to the call. The Squad crew stabilized the car while the Engine crew assisted with patient care. Thanks to PF Volunteers

6-23-06 While over 30 members of the department were in Ocean City for the 114th annual Maryland State Firemen's Convention, several members stayed back to ensure protection for Prince Frederick and surrounding areas. Most of the members left for Ocean City on the 16th and will be returning today. The week of the firemen's convention started off slow in Calvert but ended busy. The Prince Frederick Volunteers responded to 24 runs for the week, which included 15 runs on the 22nd and 23rd. We would like to thank the Volunteers who stayed back to staff all of our units. Calls for the week started out with a few personal injury accidents, a deck collapse, a water rescue, and ended up with several box alarms due to a storm.

OC Parade

6-21-06 On Wednesday, members of the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department got together with the members of Union Fire Co. to enjoy the 114th annual Md. firemen's parade. The parade began at 1300 hours and continued until 1630 hours. After the parade was finished, PF members attended a surprise birthday party for Capt Delehanty at the Snapper's Saloon. 6-18-06 At 1505 hours, the Prince Frederick Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-11 for the collapse. Welcome back Lt

Lieutenant Deale has been out of service for two months after having surgery in April due to appendicitis. The Lieutenant was cut loose by his doctor this past Friday to full duty. We're glad to have you back to full duty.

Maryland Fallen Firefighters Memorial

6-11-06 On Sunday, the Prince Frederick Volunteers made a trip to Annapolis to honor two of our own. The Maryland Fallen Firefighters Memorial is located at Calvert and Bladen Street where 376 names are inscribed on the memorial's wall, starting with the first casualty in 1840 to the last casualty in 2005. Among the 376 names are two Prince Frederick Volunteers, Donald Bowen and David Gott who were both killed in the line of duty. Tower 2 stood over top the memorial covering the statues all day until the unveiling. Hallowing Point and Solomons Island

6-10-06 At 2308 hours, the Prince Frederick Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-11 for a personal injury accident. Squad 2, Engine 22, and DFC 2B responded to Hallowing Point and Solomons Island Road. Chief 2B arrived on the scene to find two vehicles involved as he established command. Squad 2 arrived and stabilized the vehicles. Both drivers were found to have traumatic injuries alerting the helicopter. Both patients were quickly packaged and transported to the Landing Zone established by Engine 22. The patients were flown to PG's shock trauma center for further evaluation. Wilson and North Cassell

Chief 2B established command as Company 2 units arrived on the scene to find a vehicle overturned in the woods. The Squad crew stabilized the car and investigated. Congratulations Jack

6-2-06 On Friday, Prince Frederick Volunteer Jack Beckwith graduated from the Annapolis Fire Academy. Recruit class 45 went through 18 weeks of training in Millersville, Md. At 1900 hours, the 52 members of the class held their graduation at Lindale Middle School in Linthicum. Solomons Island and Old Towne

5-29-06 At 0704 hours, Squad 2 was added to Rescue Box 6-06 due additional information received from Chief 6B. Squad 2(Lt Dalrymple) responded to Solomons Island and Old Towne Road for the personal injury accident. Squad 2 arrived on the scene where Chief 6B had command and Huntingtown units had started extricating a patient. Squad 2 assisted with extricating the driver from the vehicle. The driver was turned over to EMS and transported to PG's Trauma Center while the passenger was transported to CMH.  Squad 2 cleared the scene in 35 minutes.

Huntingtown house

5-28-06 At 1223 hours, Engines 15, 6, 1 and 2, Tower 2, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 6-26 for a house. Engine 21(Lt Dalrymple), Tower 2(DFC Howes), Tanker 2(F/F Bowen), and Chief 2A responded to the 2600 block of Ridge Road. Engine 151 arrived on the scene of a one story abandoned house with fire through the roof. Chief 6 established command, Chief 6C had operations, and Chief 2A had water supply. Hallowing Point and Solomons Island

5-27-06 At 2240 hours, Rescue Squad 2, Ambulance 4 and 6 were alerted to Rescue Box 2-11. Squad 2(F/F Pesci), Engine 22(Capt Delehanty), and Chief 2B responded to Hallowing Point and Solomons Island Road for a personal injury accident. Chief 2B established command as Company 2 units arrived on the scene with a two car accident. Ambulance 7 and 6 were added to the call due to eight patients involved. The Squad crew secured both vehicles and assisted with triage. Two patients were flown by Trooper 7 to an area trauma center and 6 patients were transported to CMH. 5-23-06 At 2125 hours, Engines 2, 83, 6, Tower 2, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 2-10 for smoke. Engine 22(Capt Delehanty), Tower 2(DFC Scott), and Chief 2B responded to the 1200 block of Hallowing Point Road. Chief 2B established command as he arrived on side Alpha of a two story single family with nothing showing. Engine 22 laid a line at the hydrant and pulled an attack to a smoke filled house as the Tower arrived. Company 2 investigated as everyone else level II staged. The Engine crew found a small fire in the hot water heater and quickly extinguished it as the Tower crew opened up. Command held Company 2 for overhaul. Trench Collapse in PF

5-22-06 At 1404 hours, the Prince Frederick Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-13. Squad 2(Capt Wells), Engine 22(Sgt Boswell), and Chief 2A responded to Dares Beach Road and Clay Hammond Road for the Trench Collapse. Due to information from Communications, Chief 2A special called Prince George's Collapse Team while enroute to the call. Chief 2A established command as Company 2 units arrived to find a construction worker who had been buried in a ten foot trench for about forty seconds. Luckily, the other construction workers were able to free the victim and pull him out of the trench before units arrived. The patient was flown to PG's Trauma center for a check up. The scene was turned over to CCSD and Company 2 units cleared in 30 minutes. 

Huntingtown house

5-20-06 At 1346 hours, Engines 6, 2, 5, Tower 2, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 6-03 for the house. Engine 22(Lt Dalrymple) and Tower 2(DFC Howes) responded to the Unit Block of Radcliffe Dr. Engine 6 arrived on side Alpha of a two story single family with smoke showing. Engine 22 arrived, completed Engine 6's supply, and pulled a second line. A fire was found in the kitchen and quickly knocked. The Tower arrived,  opened up, and performed salvage and overhaul. Emmanuel Church and Wilson

5-19-06 At 2333 hours, the Prince Frederick and Huntingtown Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-17. Squad 2(Lt Dalrymple) and Chief 2B responded to Emmanuel Church and Wilson Road for the personal injury accident. Units arrived on the scene and found two vehicle head on. Chief 2B established the Command as the Squad crew stabilized the vehicles. Three patients were found and turned over to EMS. Dares Beach and Armory

5-18-06 At 1412 hours, the Prince Frederick and Huntingtown Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-16. Squad 2(C-2) responded to Dares Beach Road and Armory Road for the personal injury accident. Chief 2 established the Command as Squad 2 arrived to find two vehicles involved. The Squad crew stabilized the cars and found three people injured. The three patients were packaged and turned over to awaiting EMS. Ambulance 4 and 6 transported the patients to CMH with non-life threatening injuries. Our condolences

5-17-06 The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department would like to express our sympathy to the family and friends of Master Police Officer Michael Garbarino. The Fairfax Police Officer succumbed to his injuries today and is the second Officer that was fatally wounded after a shoot out at the Sully District Station on May 8. Officer Garbarino was a 23 year veteran of the Fairfax County Police Department and is survived by his wife and two children. Prince Frederick and Teagues Point

5-15-06 At 1116 hours, Engine Company 2 was alerted Mutual Aid to Charles County for the Landing Zone. Engine 21(Sgt Boswell) responded to Prince Frederick Road and Teagues Point Road where Charles Squad 2, Engine 23, Engine 52, and St Mary's Squad 2 were operating at a head-on collision involving two commercial vehicles and one car. Engine 21 arrived on the scene and set up the LZ along with PG Engine 362 for Trooper 7, 2, and Eagle 1. All three patients involved in the accident were flown to area trauma centers. 5-14-06 At 1652 hours, Engines 2, 6, 7, 83, Tower 2, Truck 3, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 2-11 for a building. Engine 21(F/F Pickerall), Tower 2(Capt Wells), DFC 2C and Chief 2 responded to the 300 block of Rivers Reach Court. Engine 21 arrived on side Alpha of three story apartment building with nothing showing. Chief 2 arrived and established Command as Tower 2 arrived on side Alpha. The Tower crew controlled the utilities as the Engine crew investigated. The area was found where lightning had struck the building with no extension found to the apartments. Car fire in PF

5-13-06 At 1313 hours, Engine Company 2 was alerted for a Local in the 2-11 box  for a car fire. Engine 22(DFC 2B) responded to the 200 block of Solomons Island Road S and found a fire in the trunk of a car. The fire was quickly extinguished as the Fire Marshall was called for. Our condolences

5-10-06 The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department would like to express our sympathy to the family and friends of Detective Vicky Armel. The Fairfax County Detective was fatally wounded when a gunman opened fire in the parking lot at the Sully District Police station. Mrs Armel was a 9 year veteran of the department and is survived by a husband and two children. We also wish the other officers involved a quick recovery. It was the first fatal shooting of a Fairfax officer in the line of duty in the department's history.

5-7-06 At 0953 hours, Engines 2, 6, 1, Tower 2, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 2-13 for a house. Engine 22(F/F Pickerall), Tower 2(F/F Wells), Tanker 2(F/F Zinn), Safety 2, and Chief 2 responded to the 400 block of Paula Terrace. Engine 22 arrived on side Alpha of a two story single family with smoke showing. The Engine crew found a fire in the kitchen as Chief 2 established command. Tower 2 arrived, opened up, performed a primary search. Tanker 2 arrived and picked up 22's supply. The fire was quickly extinguished with no extension. Tower 2 performed salvage and overhaul. 59th annual convention

5-7-06 At 0900 hours, Brush 2, Engine 21, and Squad 2 made a trip to Indian Head Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad for the 59th annual Southern Maryland Firemen's Parade. The parade started at 1230 hours and lasted until 1430 hours. After the parade, all of the departments gathered for some friendly games. Members of Prince Frederick joined up with Huntingtown and participated in various skills competitions. 5-4-06 At 1537 hours, Engines 2, 6, 7, 83, Tower 2, Truck 3, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 2-16 for smoke. Engine 21(Lt Dalrymple), Tower 2(F/F Bowen), and Chief 2A responded to the 800 block of Solomons Island Road N at the Fashion Bug. Engine 21 arrived on side Alpha of a one story strip mall with nothing showing. Chief 2A established command as Company 2 units investigated.   5-1-06 At 1343 hours, Engine 6, 2, 5, Tower 2, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 6-01 for a house. Engine 21(F/F Pickerall) and Tower 2(Sgt Boswell) responded to the 1500 block of Primrose Lane. Units arrived on the scene of a one story single family house with smoke showing. Engine 21 arrived on the scene and picked up E-61's water supply as units found a fire in the kitchen. A quick knock was made on the fire with minor extension. Command held Engine 6, 2, and Squad 6 for overhaul. Engine 21 returned to service in 40 minutes. 

Huntingtown house

5-1-06 At 0041 hours, Engine 6, 15, 2, 1, Tower 2, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 6-23 for a house. Engine 21(Lt Dalrymple), Tower 2(DFC Howes), and Tanker 2(F/F Wells) responded to the 1400 block of Bidwell Lane. Units arrived on the scene of a one story single family house to find the front porch on fire. Engine 21 stretched an attack line and finished knocking the fire down while units checked for extension. Command held Engines 61, 151, and 21 for overhaul. Engine 22 and Tower 2 arrived on side Alpha of a one story building with nothing showing. Engine 21 arrived to pick up 22's line as Chief 2 established command. Landing Zone

4-27-06 At 1734 hours, Engine 2 was alerted to assist Ambulance 4 and the Medic on the scene. Engine 22(Sgt Boswell) responded to the 3600 block of Sixes Rd and set up a landing zone for a child that had been attacked by a dog. Ambulance 4 transported the patient to the landing zone and the patient was taken aboard Trooper 7 to be flown to the local Children's Trauma Center. Engine 22 cleared in 20 minutes.  Photo

Last call

4-22-06 On Saturday, Engine 21, Tower 2, and Fire Chief 2 went to say goodbye to Huntingtown Volunteer Natala Lowery. The funeral services were held at Rausch Funeral Home in Owings. Over 400 family and friends gathered, along with every department in Calvert County to pay our last respects as Chaplain Bowen played the bagpipes. The procession left Owings and continued to Huntingtown VFD where Natala took her last ride aboard E-61 and passed through the Arches. 4-21-06 At 1243 hours, Engines 2, 6, 7, 83, Tower 2, Truck 3, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 2-11. Engine 21(Capt Pesci), Tower 2(F/F Sharpe), and Chief 2 responded to the 100 block of West Dares Beach Road at the Family Dollar for smoke. Engine 21 arrived on side Alpha of a one story commercial building with nothing showing. Company 2 units investigated while everyone else Level II Staged. A light ballast was found and secured in the Men's Bathroom and Command held Company 2 units for smoke removal. A couple hours later, Company 2 was alerted for an AFA. PF gas leak

4-20-06 At 0826 hours, Engines 2, 6, 7, 83, Tower 2, Truck 3, and Squad 6 were alerted  to Hazmat Box 2-16. Engine 22(C-2) and Tower 2(2C) responded to the 300 block of Market Square Drive. Company 2 units arrived and found a gas line ruptured by the construction crew working at the site. The Tower crew crimped the gas line while the Engine crew backed them up with a line. Solomons Island and Sixes

4-17-06 At 0754 hours, the Prince Frederick and St Leonard Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-08 for a MVA with one on fire. Engine 22, Squad 2, Safety 2 and Chief 2B responded to the 1900 block of Solomons Island Rd. E-22 arrived and found three vehicles with one on fire as C-2B established command. The crew went to work extinguishing the vehicle while attempting to rescue two trapped victims. The Squad arrived and assisted A-4 with patients in other vehicles as Tanker 2 arrived to supply E-22. A-7 arrived just south of the scene to find two more vehicles where Engine 72 handled the landing site. Our condolences to the Lowery and Gant families.  

Huntingtown house

4-16-06 At 2055 hours, Engine 6, 15, 2, 1, Tower 2, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 6-23 for an odor of electrical in the house. Engine 21(Lt. Dalrymple), Tower 2(Sgt. Boswell), and Chief 2A responded to the 1300 block of Dutchess Lane. Chief 6 arrived on the scene of a two story single family with nothing showing. After an investigation, units found a malfunctioning toaster and secured the power. Company 2 units cleared in 20 minutes.  Photo

4-16-06 At 0145 hours, Engine 6 was alerted to Box 6-14 for an investigation at Kent Road and Penny Lane. While Company 6 units were en-route to the area, Communications advised that they were getting multiple calls advising this to be a working house fire. Chief 6 arrived in the 7000 block of Kent Road and found a one story single family with fire through the roof, bringing Engines 5, 1, and Tower 2. Tower 2(Lt Dalrymple) and Tanker 2 responded to the scene and Level II Staged on Kent Road. The fire was brought under control and Company 2 units cleared in one hour.

Congratulations Chief

4-12-06 Prince Frederick Volunteer Deputy Fire Chief Tommy Howes was recently notified that he has been promoted to Batallion Fire Chief at Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority. Chief Howes will be the Batallion Fire Chief of training effective 4-16-06 out of National Airport. The Prince Frederick Volunteers would like to congratulate Chief Howes and wish him luck in his new position. 

First due house

4-9-06 At 2043 hours, Company 2 units were alerted to Box 2-10 for an investigation. Engine 21, Tower 2, and Chief 2 responded to the 1500 block of Isle Court, in Yardley Hills. Company 2 units arrived on the scene of a two story, middle of the row, townhouse with the owners evacuated. The Engine crew investigated and found a fire in the kitchen with a sprinkler head off as Chief 2 established command. The Tower crew shut the power off as the Squad was special called. Squad 2 arrived on the scene and started shutting the sprinkler system off with the assistance of the water and sewer rep. Lusby house

4-5-06 At 0154 hours, Engines 27, 23, and 2 were alerted for the working fire dispatch on Box 3-09. Engine 21(Lt Dalrymple) responded to the 12500 block of Catalina Drive, in the Chesapeake Ranch Estates where units from Solomons, St Leonard, Bay District, and Hollywood were battling a fully involved house fire. 4-2-06 The Prince Frederick Volunteers started off early this morning at 0012 hours for a barn fire on Box 2-12. Company 2 units responded to Lottie Fowler and Squaw Valley,  and arrived on the scene with a barn fully involved and multiple brush. Engines 21, 22, Tower 2, Squad 2, Tanker 2, Brush 2, BX 2, and Jeep 2 operated on the scene for several hours with overhaul and surrounding brush fires. At 1353 hours, Engine 22, Tower 2, and Tanker 2 responded to the 1300 block of Ball Rd for a trailer fire. Last call

4-1-06 On Saturday, Tower 2 and a few members went to say goodbye to Past Chief Billy Croson. At 1100 hours, the procession started at Rausch's Funeral Home in Owings and ended up at Southern Memorial Gardens in Dunkirk. Tower 2 and Truck 42 set up the arch for the Chief to pass through before he was laid to rest. The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department sends our condolences to the family. May you rest in peace, Chief Croson.

Farewell brother

3-31-06 On Friday, the members of the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department and the Navy got together and threw Firefighter Steve Yarosh a surprise going away party. Steve will be leaving on Sunday for a one year tour of duty in Iraq. The Chief and A-Chief presented Steve with a few parting gifts from the members of PF to take to Iraq with him. Chaplain Bowen led the evening off with a prayer before dinner was served. The Prince Frederick Volunteers would like to wish Steve good luck in his tour of duty and return home safe. A Fallen brother

  3-30-06 The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department would like to express our condolences to the Dunkirk, North Beach, and Croson Families for their loss. Early this morning, Mr. William "Billy" Croson passed away after a tough battle with cancer. Mr. Croson was a Past Chief of the North Beach and Dunkirk VFD's. Mr. Croson was also one of the founders of Dunkirk VFD. The fire department runs strong in his family with his son being a past member of the North Beach VFD and a career technician at 10 Engine in the District of Columbia. Mr. Croson's daughter is also a member of Dunkirk VFD.

First due building

3-28-06 At 1130 hours, the Prince Frederick and Benedict Volunteers were alerted to Box 2-10. Jeep 2, BX 2, Engine 22, and Tanker 2 responded to Williams Road for a brush fire. While units were enroute, communications advised it was going to be involving a barn. The box alarm brought Brush 2 and Engine 21 along with units from Huntingtown, St Leonard, Hughesville, and Dunkirk. Company 2 units arrived on the scene to find a barn fully involved with several small brush fires. Clohessy family relief fund

3-25-06 On Saturday, the Prince Frederick Volunteers attended the Clohessy family relief fund at the Prince Frederick Applebee's. This event was to help the family get their lives back together from a devastating fire that made them lose everything. A flapjack breakfast including sausage, juice, etc was was enjoyed by everyone that attended. Mrs. Damalougi and her volunteers did a great job making this fundraiser a huge success for the family. Many people throughout the area attended this successful fundraiser to support the family. Donations can still be made at the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department.  more

Huntingtown/Broomes Island houses

3-25-06 At 0709 hours, Engine 21, Tower 2, and Tanker 2 were alerted to Box 6-08 for a chimney and responded the 200 block of Hope Lane. Units arrived on the scene with a working chimney fire. The Engine crew assisted Company 6 in the interior, extinguishing the chimney while the Tower and Tanker staged. The Engine operated on the scene for an hour. At 0736 hours, Engine 22, Tower 2, and Tanker 2 were alerted to Box 7-07 for a porch fire and responded to the 5400 block of Cove View Dr. Engine 22 arrived on side Alpha, laying a line at the driveway with nothing showing. A new soldier

3-24-06 On Friday, Prince Frederick Volunteer PJ Hassler graduated from Army Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. PJ spent 9 weeks of intense training to become a United States Soldier. PJ is now moving to Redstone Arsenal in Alabama, where he will be attending Ordinance School. PJ's parents and the Department are proud of PJ and wish him good luck in his new career with the Military. After reuniting with his parents, PJ asked his dad, "what calls have I missed"? Breezy Point house

3-23-06 At 0634 hours, Engines 15, 1, 6, Tower 2, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 1-01 for a house. Tower 2(Lt Dalrymple) as the first due ladder truck and Tanker 2 as the first due Tanker responded to the 5000 block of Breezy Point Rd. Units arrived on side Alpha of a two story house with smoke showing. Tower 2 arrived, ran lights inside and started opening up while Tanker 2 staged. 3-18-06 At 0942 hours, while Engine 21 was filling in at A.A. Station 42 for a 3 alarm fire in Gailesville, Engine 2, 6, 83, Tower 2, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 2-10. Engine 22(2B), Tower 2(Safety 2), and Chief 2 responded to the 900 block of Yardley Drive for a chimney fire. Chief 2 established command as he arrived on side Alpha of one story house with a working chimney fire. The Engine crew went to the basement while the Tower crew went to the roof. Company 2 units made quick work of the fire as all other units level 2 staged. Multiple alarms in Solomons

3-15-06 At 1242 hours, Prince Frederick was alerted to the second alarm on Box 3-01 in Solomons. Engine 21, Tower 2, Safety 2 and Chief 2 responded to the 14600 block of Solomons Island Rd for a building fire. Engine 21 arrived on the scene and laid dual lines from a secondary water source. The Engine crew performed search and rescue operations in the Bowen's Inn apartments before assisting with extinguishing the fire. Tower 2 arrived on side Alpha of the Bowen's Inn apartments. Tower 2 used the ladder pipe to protect the apartments while knocking down the fire at the restaurant. Units operated on the scene for several hours in 40 mph winds overhauling. Last call

3-11-06 On Saturday, the Prince Frederick Volunteers traveled to Hughesville to say goodbye to a fellow brother. Tower 2 teamed up with Truck 1 to form the "arch" for life member David Welch as he answered his last call on Engine 23. The services started at 1000 hours at the St. Francis DeSales Church in Benedict. The procession left Benedict and traveled west on Prince Frederick Road, crossed over Leonardtown Road, made a right onto Oliver Shop Road, to the St. Mary's Church in Bryantown where David passed under the arch and was laid to rest. After the final prayers were said, everyone gathered back at Hughesville's station for refreshments.  Photo  Photo

Multiple alarm brush

3-10-06 At 1336 hours, the Prince Frederick, Benedict, and Huntingtown Volunteers were alerted to Box 2-09 for a brush fire. BX-2, Jeep 2, Tanker 2, and Chief 2 responded to the 200 block of Barstow Road and arrived to find a barn fully involved and everything surrounding it. Chief 2 established command and called for the box bringing Engines 22(2B), 21(Sgt Boswell), and Brush 2. Multiple units from Charles, Prince George's, St. Mary's, and Anne Arundel Counties worked for just over five hours to contain the fire with 40mph winds gusting. First due building

3-10-06 At 1054 hours, Engine 2, 6, 7, 83, Towers 2, 1, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 2-16 for a building. Engine 21(Lt. Deale), Tower 2(Capt. Pesci), and Chief 2B responded to the 800 block of Solomons Island Road N. Chief 2B arrived on side Alpha of a one story building with nothing showing as he established command. Engine 21 arrived, advanced an attack, and investigated. The Engine crew found an malfunctioning electrical socket in the main part of the store. The Tower crew arrived, controlled the utilities, and checked for extension. Command held Company 2 and Engine 6 for 20 minutes.      Photo  Photo

A Fallen brother

3-8-06 The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department sends our condolences to the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department and the Welch family for the untimely loss of a fellow brother. The arrangements for David Welch are as follows: the Viewing is on Friday, March 10, 2006 at the St. Francis DeSales Church in Benedict from 1400-2000 hours, fireman's prayers at 1930 hours. The Funeral is on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 1000 hours. The procession will travel to the St. Mary's Church in Bryantown where David will be laid to rest.

First due building

3-7-06 At 1447 hours, the Prince Frederick and Huntingtown Volunteers were alerted for an AFA at CMH. Communications came back and told 2A that there was smoke on the second floor. 2A requested the box bringing Engines 2, 6, 7 and 83, Towers 2 and 1, and Squad 6 to Box 2-16. Engine 21(Capt Pesci), Tower 2(Chief 2), Squad 2(F/F Billings), and Chief 2A responded to 100 Hospital Drive. Engine 21 arrived on side Alpha of a 5 story hospital with nothing showing. The Engine crew advanced the standpipe rack to the second floor and quickly extinguished a small fire in the boiler room. The special services work together to clear the second floor of smoke. Water rescue

3-3-06 At 1550 hours, the Prince Frederick and Benedict Volunteers  were alerted to Rescue Box 2-05. Engine 22(Lt Dalrymple) responded to the Benedict Bridge for a subject in the water. After arriving on the scene and investigating, the Engine crew found a kayak boat that had overturned underneath the bridge. The boater lost the kayak and was stranded on the eighth pillar with his legs submerged in the frigid water. Lieutenant 2 established command as the Engine crew lowered a harness down to the subject and hoisted him out of the water. Engine 22 cleared the scene in one hour.

Basket Bingo

2-26-06 On Sunday, the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire department had another successful stuffed Basket Bingo. Along with the regular bingo, there were specials, early birds, drinks, food, raffles, and lots of fun. First due house

2-25-06 While two crews were filling in for Company 1's banquet, at 2346 hours, Engines 2, 7, 83, Tower 2, Squad 7, Tankers 83 and 6 were alerted to Box 2-02 for a house. Engines 22, 21, Tower 2, Squad 2, Tanker 2, Brush 2, Chief 2, 2A, and 2C responded to the 1900 block of Harvest Grove Lane. Chief 2A established command as he arrived on side Alpha of a two story, single family with heavy fire. Engine 22 arrived and advanced an attack line into the second floor. An aggressive attack was attempted until Operations asked for the evacuation due to a collapse on side Charlie. Engine 12 and Tower 1 responded on the Special Alarm. Last call

2-22-06 This morning while snow fell over the Arlington National Cemetery, a true fire service hero was laid to rest with full military honors befitting someone who had given his life for others. Frank Brannigan passed away on January 10th at the age of 87. Prince Frederick Volunteer Captain Tim Delehanty attended the funeral for our fallen brother along with many other fire service personnel throughout the area. Anyone who has ever sat in any class that he taught can thank the "Old Professor" for providing the foundation of our survival in buildings that are on fire. We thank the Branigan family for sharing him with us for all these years and hope that no one will ever forget the sacrifices that he made to keep us all safe. Western Shores house

2-20-06 At 0654 hours, the Prince Frederick Volunteers were alerted to Box 7-05 for a house. Engine 21(2B Howes) as the second due Engine and Tower 2(2C Scott) as the first due Ladder responded to the 3900 block of Dogwood Road in Western Shores. Engine 7 arrived on side Alpha with smoke showing. Engine 21 arrived and picked up Engine 7's supply line while the crew pulled a back up line and assisted with extinguishing a fire in the walls. The Tower arrived and the crew went to work opening up and ventilating. Company 2 units  remained on the scene with overhaul for an hour and a half.

65th Annual Awards Banquet

  2-18-06 The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department held our 65th annual awards banquet on Saturday night to celebrate another great year in 2005. This banquet was extremely emotional as we remembered the loss of Edwin "Eddie" King and William "Binky" Dulaney. The evening started off with a prayer for the two members that we lost, followed by appetizers and dinner, the installation of the 2006 Officers and Administration, the Awards ceremony, and finally the party. Engine 21(Capt Della-Camera), Engine 22(F/F Bingham), Tower 2(2A D'Agostino), Squad 2(2C Scott), and Chief 2 responded to the 200 block of Calvert Towne Drive for a house. Chief 2 arrived on the scene with smoke showing on Side Alpha of a two story end of the row townhouse. The Engine crew advanced a 400' attack line into the house and found a fire in the basement. The Tower crew opened up and controlled utilities. The Squad crew performed a primary search with negative results. 2-11-06 At 2317 hours, the Prince Frederick Volunteers were alerted for a Local Alarm. Engine 21, Tower 2, and Chief 2 responded to 110 W Dares Beach Rd. Chief 2 arrived on side Alpha of a two story commercial building with smoke showing and called for the Box. The Box Alarm brought Engine 22 and Squad 2. The Engine crew knocked the fire on the first floor while the Tower crew opened up. Engine 22 picked up the line and established water supply while the Squad crew controlled utilities and performed a primary search of the first floor. 2-11-06 At 1221 hours, Engines 2, 83, 6, Tower 2, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 2-10. Engine 21(S/O Hassler), Engine 22(F/F Bowen), Tower 2(Lt Dalrymple) and Chief 2C responded to the 200 block of Mason Road for a house. Company 2 units arrived on the scene with nothing showing on side Alpha. The Engine crew advanced a 200' attack into the residence while the Tower crew shut the power off. Brother firefighter injured

2-8-06 At 0620 hours, a Box Alarm was dispatched for an apartment building fire on the 6300 block of Maxwell Drive in Morningside. Units arrived with heavy fire showing from a terrace level apartment. During this fire, a firefighter from the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department, Tommy Russell, was seriously injured. He suffered injuries to his head and was flown to the local Trauma Center. The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend our thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery to Tommy. Tommy is featured in this photo with members of PF and Dunkirk. The photo is from the PG County Convention last September.

Dares Beach and Wilson

2-7-06 At 1403 hours, the Prince Frederick and Huntingtown Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-13. Squad 2(F/F Boswell), Engine 22(2A D'Agostino), and Chief 2 responded to Dares Beach Road and Wilson Road for a personal injury accident with subjects trapped. Chief 2 established command as Company 2 units arrived on the scene to find two vehicles involved. The Squad crew secured the vehicles only to find that bystanders had removed the trapped subject. Command held PF units as two patients were taken to CMH. Company 2 units cleared in 20 minutes.  Photo  Photo  Photo

New look on Engines

2-3-06 On Friday, the Prince Frederick Volunteers changed the look on the front of the Engines. Lt. Deale has spent hours of hard work measuring, engineering, and consulting on the project. The front of Engine 21 and 22 now feature a big red "2" on the grill. The aluminum 2's were fabricated and donated by Triton Metals in Hollywood and the red scotch light was applied by Color Creations in Owings. Hallowing Point and Sixes

1-28-06 At 1411 hours, the Prince Frederick and Benedict Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-05 . Squad 2(Lt. Dalrymple) and Engine 22(Lt. Helms) responded to Hallowing Point Road and Sixes Road for a personal injury accident. Company 2 units arrived on the scene to find a car under a tractor trailer as Lieutenant 2 established command. The Squad crew secured the vehicles and found that all of the victims were out. The occupants of the vehicles were evaluated and signed refusals. Company 2 units cleared in 20 minutes.

1-23-06 At 1309 hours, Company 2 was alerted to a Local Alarm for an odor of smoke. Engine 21(2B Howes) and Squad 2(C2 Ficke) responded to 820 Solomons Island Road North at the Valvoline. Units arrived on side Alpha of a the one story building with smoke showing. Chief 2 established command and called for the Box as Company 2 units investigated. The Engine crew found a fire in the furnace and made quick work of it while the Squad opened up and controlled utilities. Company 2 units cleared in 40 minutes.  Photo  Photo  Photo

Back in Black

1-22-06 At 0800 on Sunday, the members sat down to a home cooked breakfast and then started issuing gear to everyone. The Prince Frederick Volunteers had purchased new gear with our grant money. PF took it back to "Old School" and bought 55 sets of black Globe Xtreme gear. The new gear features the PF patch on the left sleeve and the American Flag on the right sleeve. Thanks to Captain Tim Delehanty for the great breakfast and Quartermasters Mike Bowen and Al Billings for getting all of the gear ready......more

Last call

1-20-06 On Friday, the Prince Frederick Volunteers, along with many other departments went Rausch Funeral in Owings to pay our last respects to Firefighter Fabricante. Engine 21 went to Owings to provide traffic control in the procession while Tower 2 set up the Arch with Truck 3 at Huntingtown United Methodist Church for the burial site. We would like to extend our condolences to St Leonard VFD and the friends and family of Josh. Please keep Brian in your prayers. Josh, may you rest in peace.  Photo

Lusby house

1-19-06 At 1240 hours, Engines 3, 7, 9, Truck 3, Squad 7, Tanker 2, and Tanker 27 were alerted to Box 3-10. Tanker 2 responded to the 700 block of Rattle Snake Road for a house. Company 3 units arrived on side Alpha of a one story single family with fire showing. The working fire dispatch was struck bringing Engine 21. Tanker 2 arrived on the scene and assisted with water supply. The working fire dispatched was placed in service as units quickly brought the fire under control. Tanker 2 assisted with overhaul and cleared in 90 minutes.

A fallen brother

1-16-06 Josh Fabricante's funeral arrangements as follows: Visitation at Rausch Funeral home in Owings is Thursday at 1400-1600 and 1900-2100 with Firemen's Prayers at 2000 hours. Funeral Procession Friday at 1030 from Rausch Funeral Home Owings to Huntingtown United Methodist Church for an 1100 Funeral with Interment to follow at the church cemetery. Any department wishing to bring apparatus for the procession only, please contact Chief 7B (410) 586-2919. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families.

Lowery and Hidden Retreat

1-15-06 At 2353 hours, Squad 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 6-01. Squad 2(Chief 2) responded to Lowery Road and Hidden Retreat Trail where Huntingtown units were on the scene of an overturned auto with ejections. Squad 2 arrived and assisted Company 6 with patient care and loading. Two patients succumbed to their injuries and two patients were flown to the Trauma Center. Two members involved are members of Company 7. Squad 2 cleared in just over an hour.  Photo

MVA on Benedict Bridge

1-14-06 At 1054 hours, the Prince Frederick and Benedict Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-05. Squad 2 and Chief 2 responded to the Benedict Bridge for a personal injury accident. Chief 2 established command after arriving on the scene where Benedict units had two vehicles head-on. Squad 2 arrived and secured the vehicles. Ambulance 4 transported one patient to CMH and Ambulance 83 obtained a signed refusal. Units cleared in 30 minutes.  Photo

1-13-06 On Friday, Prince Frederick Volunteer Tommy Scott IV graduated from the Anne Arundel County Fire Academy in Millersville, Md. Tommy went through a sixteen week academy and is assigned to Station 19 in Cape St. Claire. Huntingtown house

1-11-06 At 2351 hours, Engines 6 , 5, 1, Tower 2, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 6-09. Tower 2 responded to the 800 block of Pat Lane in Huntingtown for a house. Units arrived on side Alpha of a one story, single family with smoke showing. Firefighters entered the residence to find a fire in the basement. Tower 2 arrived on the scene and assisted with opening up. Extension was found in the walls and ceiling. Tower 2 assisted with overhaul and cleared at 0114 hours.

Loss of a legend

1-10-06 In the morning hours today, a true fire service legend passed away at his residence in Calverton, MD at the age of 87."Never trust a truss" were the famous words of Frank Brannigan. Mr. Brannigan has probably saved more firefighters lives than anyone ever by his teachings. Since the 60's, he has concentrated his life on firefighter safety. Frank has received countless honors for his efforts to save firefighters lives. His knowledge was priceless and his name will continue. Mr. Brannigan will be truly missed.

1-6-05 At 1023 hours, Engines 7, 2, 3, Tower 2, and Squad 7 were alerted to Box 7-08. Engine 21(Reamy) and Tower 2(Breen) responded to the 6600 block of Mackall Road for a house. Engine 7 arrived on side Alpha with heavy smoke showing as Chief 7 established command. Engine 21 picked up 7's lay-out and assisted with extinguishing a fire in the rear bedroom. Tower 2 arrived and assisted with ventilation and overhaul. Company 2 units cleared in one hour.  Photo

Gas leak in a house

1-4-05 At 2039 hours, Engines 2, 83(E21), 6, Squads 7 and 6 were alerted to Hazmat Box 2-10. With the Tower and Engine 21 in Charles County and the Squad out of service, Engine 22(Lt Deale), Tanker 2, Brush 2, Chief 2A and Chief 2 responded to the 1800 block of Crofton Court for a gas leak. Chief 2 arrived on side Alpha and established command. Company 2 units investigated the residence with the gas sniffer while all other units level 2 staged. All readings proved negative and units cleared in 20 minutes.

   1-1-05 At 0859 hours, Engines 2, 6 , 7, 83, Tower 2, Truck 3, and Squad 6 were alerted to Box 2-11. Engine 21(Lt Dalrymple), Engine 22, Tower 2(Chief Ficke), Squad 2(Capt Delehanty), and Chief 2C responded to the 100 block of Solomons Island Road S for a gas leak in the McDonald's Express. Chief 2 established command as Company 2 units arrived on sides Alpha and Delta. Crews found food on the stove and Command held Company 2 to ventilate. Units cleared in 30 minutes.  Photo  Photo
